About Me
Hello, and welcome to my website.
I am Julie Baum, Liberal Democrat campaigner in Besses Ward, and the Lib Dem candidate in the 2008 local elections.
I have lived in Bury all my life, and the Borough means a great deal to me. I am passionate about the community, and have campaigned with the Lib Dems to save local schools and post offices because I think that good community facilities are absolutely vital for all of Bury.
As well as my interest in community politics, I have a busy work life. I have spent the last twenty years working in a variety of roles with young and/or vulnerable people in the community. I began my career as a youth worker, and since then I have managed programmes integrating young people with learning difficulties into mainstream education, and was a volunteer coordinator for a local charity for a number of years. At the moment I manage a team of people giving employment and training advice to adults across Manchester.
I have two children. My son is also active in the local Lib Dems and is a Councillor in Prestwich. My daughter works in public relations in London.
At the moment I am getting really involved wieth the local community, working hard as your Lib Dem local campaigner. I have met so many people across Besses, and have already worked with local people and the council to get streets cleaner, roads fixed, and graffiti removed. If you have any issue you’d like me to help with, please get in touch.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible - look out for me delivering the Lib Dem Focus leaflet across the ward!
Julie
